personal project overview

this is the online video charlie the unicorn 2 wich is where i got the idea for my personal project from. this is the second scharlie the unicorn video that was created by jason steele of filmcow.com in 2006. there are currently 3 different charlie the unicorn videos but i got most of my ideas from this one

this screenshot shows the part of the video that i got my idea for where the unicorns are placed, as you can see they are set out in the same way as they are on my box art.

the reason that i used adobe photoshop to create my box art is beacause there alot of different ways of compiling different pictures together to make a new one, also i used it because i have experience with it so i would be able to get straight into the work without looking and learning how to do different things. i created the background of grass and sky from creating a new brush pattern from one of the screenshots and used that to draw on the grass and the sky. after editing different screenshots from the video i cut different parts out from each screenshot and put them all together to create my box art

this is the first draft idea of what the game box art was going to look like, i created this by watching the videos and then took my favourite pictures and scenes from them and drew them out to look like a game box art. as you can see i have altered a few things from my draft to the finished peice as there were a few things that i thought looked better wen i was editing on photoshop.

i enjoyed alot of different aspects of creating the box art such as when i had everything that i needed and tried different things to see what looked the best, also was creating the screenshots on the back cover of what the game would look like what i did for this part was just get some screen shots of the video and add a health bar and score bar to make it look more like a game i am very happy with the way that this turned out it looks alot better than what i thought it would look like. the parts that i did not enjoy about this was trying to find all of the small legal print at the bottom of the back cover that printed out at a decent quality so that it was readable, i could not find any off the internet so i scanned one of my own games and took the writing from there. i would like to do something like this again as i had alot of fun creating this.

finished personal project

this is the finished peice for my personal project, what i have don ei s created a ps3 box art for a made up game called charlie the unicorn which is an online animation. i created this by using different parts of a ps3 box art and then just added some different screen shots from the online animation and put them all together in photoshop and created this. i found this to be very fun to do although there were some parts that were annoying to do such as getting the right size images so that the writing would be clear enough to read.

this is basically the finished version of my charlie the unicorn box art. all that is left to do now is to tweak the copyright writing at the bottom of the page so that it is sharper and can be read.
